{forest floor} blog tour

hello! and welcome to my stop on the forest floor blog tour! i am a big fan of bonnie christines fabrics (you can see here and here) and it was an absolute delight to work with her forest floor fabrics, the designs are just as brilliant as ever!

in all my years of sewing i have never made a dresden plate before (i know!) so while drooling over and petting these fabrics i thought a dresden plate would be perfect and now i have a new mini quilt for my new bedroom :)

i just love that bunny! she will definetly be popping up in my other projects! the illustrations in this fabric line are soo sweet, it was hard choosing just four to play with :) i also think i will making a lot more dresden plates, it was super fun to make and it's great for fussy cutting the centres!  and me being me just had to add a little something more :) hence the doily!

i absolutely adore these fabrics! and love the woodland-y feel that they have! i have some fabric left over that i am itching to make something else with :)

thank-you bonnie! for letting me play with some forest floor fabrics. make sure to have a look at all the amazing projects being made with this fabric here! and you should see the adorable quilt jayme made yesterday at finding sweetland and to stop by tomorrow to see what Maja Wlusek at Betyipiernaty has made :)

{paperie pillow}

i am off uni now for easter *yay* 2 weeks to eat lots of chocolate and get caught up on all my work :) my sewing time has been limited, but i'm hoping to change that soon! and today i have a finish to share with you!

i'm sure by now you have all seen the fabric paperie by amy sinibaldi (nanacompany) there is only one word to describe this fabric... PRETTY! it is so pretty and the colours are soo sweet, if you have followed nanacompany for a while, you will know this is totally her style!

it is a limited edition collection of 10 fabrics so i treated myself to a half yard bundle and then when it arrived it was far too pretty to cut into! i ummed and ahhed for ages about what to make! i had recently enrolled in maureen cracknells craftsy class 'quick quilt as you go' and fell in love with the herringbone quilt! i thought it was a tad ambitious so opted for a cushion!

i have tried quilt as you go once before and really enjoyed it so i was excited for maureen's class! the directions were brilliant and really clear to follow! i made 2 herringbone panels for my cushion, working with the 45 degree angle was a bit tricky, but i got there in the end!

i am soo happy with my finished cushion! i love how it is finished off, i used the gingham check from wild and free for my binding and i think it goes perfectly with paperie!

when i was piecing the cushion top i added in some lace for that 'nanacompany' feel! i think it just adds that extra bit of sweet!

i loved working with paperie and i *may* have already started another project with it :)

do you have a fabric you're loving at the minute??

pretty pillowcases

i recently completed 10 years as a cub leader, but as i am now heading off to uni i had to say goodbye to all the cubs and leaders, i have to say i am going to miss them! as a thank-you the leaders got me a gift voucher to the textile studio (they know me so well :) ) and i got some lovely fabric to make pillowcases!

i had the hardest time picking my fabrics! i wanted my pillowcases to match but didn't want them too matchy-matchy, i think that makes sense haha. i fell in love with the retro flower print by emma jean jansen and of course that navy from vintage market is just amazing! after picking my main fabrics it was easy picking co-ordinating fabrics for the cuff and trim! can you see my teddy cushion peeking out :)

i followed the tutorial by film in the fridge and they came together really quickly! i didn't get quite enough of the retro flower-y fabric (because i can't read a pattern apparently) so i added a strip of blue, which i think co-ordinates perfectly!

these will brighten up my uni flat and add a little handmade look! so i haven't started packing, or even thinking about packing but at least i have pretty pillowcases, priorities, right? :)

*these pictures were brought to you by my unmade bed :)

flutterby mini quilt - winged blog tour

hello! and welcome to my stop on the winged blog tour by bonnie christine! i'm so happy to be taking part today and if you don't know bonnie you need to go and follow her at her blog going home to roost

today i'm going to show you what i made with this wonderful fabric. bonnie generously sent us 4 fat quarters (and wow! it was super hard choosing only four!) there are two colourways and i decided to mix them together to make a mini quilt featuring the butterflies (and the perfect purple)

{fluttering up the garden fence}

{this little one is my favourite}

i had so much fun with this project! when i saw the butterflies fabric i knew i just had to make them a feature! i used the garden fence block by hyacinth quilt designs and fussy-cut the butterflies for the centres. my idea was to have the butterflies fluttering around in the garden, so i cut out the rest of the butterflies and sketch-stitched them on top of my quilted top and ta-dah! a flutterby in the garden mini quilt!

be sure to follow along with the tour, all the makes are so lovely!
